Cue the music and… “How do you do? Do you do? The things that you do…? No one I know could ever keep up with you?”

Well… We hope you are well and ready to embark on a journey of discovery and growth with us in the new Lifestyle section of SAWomEng@netWork. We began our article with this 80’s classic because as young women in today’s modern and fast paced world, these are questions all of us often wonder about…

• How are we really doing?
• How are others achieving or reaching such great heights?
• What do I need to do or learn to go forward?
• Do I have what it takes?

Danielle Wolmarans and Val Kesentseng Tapela are Integral Coaches and the founders of Box Edge Pty (Ltd). Having trained in psychology and gained experience in the corporate sector they began Box Edge with the purpose of helping others achieve their full potential and brilliance within. As coaches and business owners Danielle and Val have experienced the enormous power integral coaching can have on an individual’s life.

In fact as our questions at the start of this article suggest - the current competitive and fast paced market demands that we not only perform a function but add value to an organization, relationships and/or team. We are also entering a new age were the youth are expected to take responsibility of their careers and lives so that they can compete with their peers and fill various gaps in the market.

It is our passion therefore to help individuals to become more self-aware, competent in self management and capable of deriving long term excellence from their careers and lives. Box Edge aims to identify change that is tangible and develop effective competencies and skills unique to each individual’s brilliance so that they are proficient in their work, life and relationships.

Coaching has proven to be an effective way of creating lasting change in one’s life and is growing rapidly in South Africa. But what is coaching you may ask? The simplest way for us to explain this phenomenon is to give a picture of what it’s like. Imagine a picture of a sports coach. This is someone who directs and trains people towards a particular goal. He/she does not perform with the player/s but they take the motivation, insights and possibilities spoken about with the coach and make it happen on the field. Similarly with a life coach – there is a unique and supportive relationship which helps achieve goals, acts as a sounding board and helps generates new possibilities and opportunities in all areas of your life. The coach does not direct you but instead is there providing a safe space for outcomes to be spoken about and new opportunities to be discovered and reached. The ball so to speak is in your court too!!

As individuals we have all possess the necessary resources to achieve success, however we sometimes need a bit of help realizing what they are and how we can harness them. It is with this in mind that we will be writing articles about personal development and engaging with your concerns in the Lifestyle section of SAWomEng@netWork. We will begin our series of articles on Self-management skills and what you need to do to develop these increasingly important skills. So keep an eye out for our articles “Becoming the boss – of your own life” and “Why is your Can Do more important than your IQ”.

We look forward to an amazing time with you in this Lifestyle section and welcome input and comments from all of you in order to keep this relevant to you. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions and mail us at val@boxedge.co.za with any specific topics that you want to see on this page.

To your brilliance…

Danielle & Val
